Our history began in 1950 with a single warehouse in Chattanooga, Tennessee with only two employees: Jim Kennedy, Jr. and Sam Smartt. Though the company’s history is full of constantly evolving innovations, our greatest early achievement was when Kenco’s co-founder, Jim Kennedy, Jr., drafted the industry’s first management fee contract warehousing agreement with DuPont in 1969. Even more impressive is the fact that DuPont remains a customer of Kenco to this day.
Since that first contract in 1969, Kenco has grown into a fully integrated logistics provider managing 90 distribution facilities comprising 30 million square feet of space. Kenco currently serves over 200 clients with varying logistics needs across a wide range of industries.
