Company History & Overview

UCO Industries was created in 1974 as a 501(c)3 not for profit corporation. It was created to provide a place of employment and habilitation for individuals in Union County with developmental disabilities.

Originally UCO Industries was called U-Co Industries (still the legal name DBA of UCO Industries) when it was a sheltered workshop for individuals in Union County with Developmental Disabilities (UCBDD). The Union County Board of Developmental Disabilities provided services to the individuals at U-Co Industries until October 2013. The transition was then made to privatize services at U-Co Industries and now a private service provider provides services, Columbus Center for Human Services (CCHS). During this time U-Co Industries became an employment only location with no habilitation services provided. With this significant transition it was decided to go from U-Co Industries to UCO Industries to represent the evolution from sheltered workshop to place of employment.

UCO Industries has grown over the years and many companies in the community have partnered with UCO Industries to provide those employment opportunities. Examples of companies in the past that we have partnered with include, O.M. Scott Company, General Industries, and Ray Lewis & Son, Inc. to name a few. Current local and national companies that partner with UCO Industries include, Honda of America, ICON Blue, Alpha Container, Ohio Laser, and Tool Technologies.

UCO Industries has developed sophisticated systems in order to deliver excellence to our customers resulting in awards in delivery and quality excellence.

UCO Industries has always been focused on our people first and will continue to focus on our Mission to create paid employment opportunities for those with developmental disabilities in our community.
